About the Artist..
Lida and Luca
Lida describes her situation as "a beautiful life".
There's a beauty in everything...you just need to observe it!
Six years ago Lida Grobler made a New Years's resolution to attend
art classes, but then she started on her own. Art comes naturally to
her and six years down the line she takes commissions and paints from
her home in Plettenberg Bay.
"Most of my paintings gets a character as I work. I love dimension and
movement in my paintings.......I hate flat paintings, life isn't flat!"
Oils and charcoal are her favourite mediums with the charcoal giving her
the chance to word quickly, unlike oils. "Working with oils has taught me
patience......"
Lida focuses mainly on everyday situations, and she prefers painting people
and animals. "I've always been into animals, especially dogs and my big passion,
horses. I am the proud owner of three stunning horses and they are my pride and joy! I love to
ride or just spend time with these amazing creatures. A bad day turns into bliss the moment I see,
smell and touch them!".
Lida is married to a local pharmacist Nico and has two children Jaques and Nicol who live
in Stellenbosh and Cape Town.
